In July 2021, a British version of the American edition of Harper’s Bazaar was released and revealed many interesting facts about thirty-six-year-old Hollywood star Keira Knightley. Talking to reporters, the woman complained that it was not easy for her to be in self-isolation. Several of her acquaintances have died from the coronavirus.
In addition, because of the pandemic, filming has been cancelled – for a year Kira has been without a job. The last picture in which she participated, has not yet been released (we are talking about “Silent Night” by Camille Griffin). However, on the career break and influenced maternal responsibilities: Knightley has two daughters – six-year-old Edie and Delilah, who at the time of the interview was not yet two.
She had to entertain herself somehow during the lockdown period. Kira put on pretty dresses and bright make-up every day: “We used to go to the garden where we had the trampoline installed. My eldest daughter and I agreed that we could only go near it if we were wearing pretty outfits. Edie always had ribbons in her pigtails. And my husband was only allowed to approach us if he was wearing a costume. After all, what good are all those mountains of clothes if they’re gathering dust in the wardrobes for nothing?”
“Make-up is armour for me,” Kira says. – Both my husband and Edie don’t like to see me wearing makeup. Jimmy always exclaims: “Oh, you’re her again!” When my husband sees me in make-up, it’s like he’s not seeing me but someone else. However, I feel like I’m becoming someone else myself. Probably a character of some sort.”
The coronavirus has also affected her musician husband. According to the actress, James Wrighton has obsessive-compulsive disorder, but this fact has one advantage: thanks to this spouse cooks perfectly.
During a period of self-isolation, the thirty-seven-year-old musician, who plays in the British band Klaxons (style – “new wave”), seriously concerned with ecology. Now he has his whole family eating only vegetables grown on the principles of regenerative agriculture, which excludes the use of pesticides and harmful fertilisers. “I’m not a big fan of vegetable products,” says Kira. – Imagine, we once ate a few varieties of celery, even though I can’t stand it!”
Knightley is now actively preparing for a new film based on the fantasy novel Servants of Justice, written by Anne Leckie. The work discusses issues such as revenge and betrayal. Keira hopes to start filming soon. To better understand her character, she reads Amanda Scott’s books, which talk about misogyny (disdain for women) and sexual abuse in school.
The actress was surprised that she didn’t think she had experienced misogyny before: “Women started talking about the safety precautions they had to take just to get home in one piece. At that point I realised that I was behaving in a similar way, without even thinking about it, as if it were a normal situation. It’s frustrating.”
Knightley told a story that a politician once proposed a curfew for men and many people were outraged because of it. “They don’t talk about it at all, but women have lived under curfews throughout history,” the film star said indignantly.
As Kira confessed, she too has had the misfortune of encountering molestation: “Every woman has experienced harassment at least once. I don’t know of any of us who have escaped this fate. I’m talking about inappropriate touching and close relationships where the partner suddenly declares he’s going to hit or stab you.
